Usually when I read about the RIAA and it's ilk, it goes in one ear and out the other. However, today on tinymixtapes there was this story (click on the title of this post to read.)
I was like, yeah, whatev. Except then I started to look at some of my new cds and they are indeed missing the Compact Disc (tm) logo. Not sure if it's just the packaging though as the whole cardboard cd insert thing is quite the rage these days. However, even some of those cds still had the logo on the actual cd. I looked at DCFC's Transatlanticism and it's scary how the logo is totally missing from the normal spot it's usually on. In its place are blank squares. And that album came out before they signed to Atlantic! (haha, so glad I didn't *buy* Plans!)
Hmmm, I suppose there are more important things to discuss than whether or not I get some of my music for free, or if I now have the Sony virus on my computer. In any case, I would just like to justify my downloading by stating that I still spend a ton of money on albums. And concerts. Like Nietzsche once said, "Without music, life would be an error." Amen.
