Thumbsucker

I forgot to write about this last night. This movie is one of the best I've seen all year. Of course, since it was shot in SW Portland (even if it is the Tron/Sherwood) that automatically makes it a step above the rest of the Hollywood drivel.

But it's really the acting that brings this movie to the forefront. Everyone did a tremendous job here, including Vince Vaughn and Keanu Reeves who have finally managed to do something watchable. The lead Lou Pucci is great, I've never seen him in anything else, but hopefully he'll get more roles. The soundtrack was also stellar. Too bad Elliott Smith didn't get to do the whole thing like he planned. But The Polyphonic Spree give it an uplifted spirit, which is essential to this film.

The only thing that I found a bit unbelievable was the way the family related to each other. But just b/c I didn't think it was realistic, doesn't mean that this kind of family doesn't exist.

Go see it.
